Academics Division releases new policies and guidelines

Academic Quality Management Policies. New policies and guidelines have been disseminated by the Academics Division as part of its academic quality management initiatives.


Academics Division releases new policies and guidelines

Three (3) new policies and guidelines have been released by the Academics Division to guide the colleges and departments in their operations. These are the following:

  • Data Privacy Policy
  • Outside Professional Activities, Conflict of Interest and Conflict of Commitment
  • Policies, Standards and Guidelines in the Preparation of Memoranda and Letters, Programme of Activities and Invites and Certificates/Plaques

This is part of the Division’s initiatives to institutionalize quality management among key processes and activities, in accordance with institutional and legal frameworks.


ADEX Medical Staffing and DLSHSI sign Memorandum of Agreement

ADEX Medical Staffing, LLC and DLSHSI have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to mutually provide opportunities for continuing professional development training and placement of nurses, sharing of expertise,experiences, best practices in Nursing, and research and academic endeavors.

The agreement was entered into on November 24, 2017 between Br. Gus L. Boquer, FSC, EdD and other key administrators and ADEX representatives.

ADEX Medical Staffing, LLC is an international company which provides service capability to the medical industry.


DLSHSI hosts the National Search for Science Survivor-Wizards

The Lasallian Access and Success Office hosted the National Search for Science Survivor-Wizards on December 2, 2017 at the DLS Animo Center. The competition aimed to gather the best and brightest students in Science from different schools in the country.

Grade 10 students from 56 participating schools joined the competition. St. Jude Catholic School Manila was named Champion while Sisters of Mary Boys Town and Makati Science High School won 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively. Stefan Marcus Ong from St. Jude Catholic School Manila was the highest pointer. Congratulations to the winners!


CE-Logic proposes library renovation project

CE-Logic, Inc. has presented its proposed library renovation project to Vice Chancellor for Academics Dr. Juanito O. Cabanias and Library Director Efren M. Torres, Jr. The plan involves the space renovation and furniture upgrade of the lower ground floor, the discussion rooms, the Multimedia Section, and the Health Informatics Laboratory located at the Romeo P. Ariniego, MD Library. The proposal also considers the current needs of the library users for a bigger reading area which is open at night and more technologies and spaces to support collaborative work.

CE-Logic, Inc. leads in providing information solutions to academic institutions and organizations using technology and web-based information and reference services.


CIETI completes the evaluation of NEO Learning Management System

The Center for Innovative Education and Technology Integration has initiated the trial access and evaluation of NEO Learning Management System (LMS) on October-November 2017.

NEO LMS is a platform used to deliver online education. Since its launch in 2009, it has been utilized by over 20,000 institutions and organizations and have over 1 million users worldwide.

Faculty members and staff of College of Medical Radiation Technology, College of Medicine, College of Nursing, Special Health Sciences High School, Comprehensive Community Health Training Program, and the Romeo P. Arinigeo MD LIbrary Services attended the user training held on October 11, 2017 at the Health Informatics Laboratory, College of Medicine. After the trial period, attendees evaluated the system. Most of the respondents said that:

  • online classes held through NEO were useful and enjoyable;
  • it was easy to use and has appealing interface;
  • it was recommended to be used in online classes; and
  • they were satisfied with it.

When asked about the over-all impression about NEO, most of the respondents gave positive feedback.

More LMS presentations and trainings are scheduled on January 2018 to help the Academics Division to choose the appropriate LMS to be used by the faculty members and students towards full technology integration in the curriculum.

College of Medicine

  • Hosting of 6th Interprofessional Education Conference held on December 6, 2017 at DLS Villarosa Convention Hall. The case was presented by Dr. Lloyd Christopher S. Lim from Department of Pediatrics. Discussants were Dr. Kristine L. Mendoza from Department of Pediatrics, Dr. Rey-An Nino L. Garcia from Department of Orthopedics, Dr. Nestor Jonathan E. Gatchalian from CMRT, and Ms. Mary Angelica V. Legaspi from CRS.

College of Pharmacy

  • Celebration of the Philippine Antibiotic Awareness Week  (PAAW 2017) with a lecture about Antimicrobial Resistance entitled “I am AWARE (A War Against Resistance)” on November 23, 2017 at the Out Patient Department of  DLS-UMC sponsored by Ambica Pharmaceuticals

Academic Quality Management

  • Attendance of Prof. Rowena C. Laigo to the 9th Higher Education International Conference on the New Developments of Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance in Higher Education at Macao Polytechnic Institute, Macao on November 21-23, 2017

Comprehensive Community Health Training Program

  • Attendance of CCHTP Team to the Colleges and Universities Public Service Conference (CUPSCon) 2017 on November 9-10, 2017 at UP Bonifacio Global City Campus, Taguig City. Dr. Gurango and Mr. Madlansacay presented their research “Comprehensive Community Health Training Program (CCHTP): De La Health Sciences Institute (DLSHSI) Experience”
  • Participatory Action Research (PAR) tools review held in Brgy. Baliwag on November 15, 2017, in Brgy. Pantihan 3 on November 16, 2017 participated by six (6) community health organization (CHO) members, and in Brgy. Pantihan 4 on November 17, 2017 participated by thirteen (13) CHO members. A dry run was also conducted on November 23, 2017 in Brgy. Baliwag participated by seven (7) CHO members and four (4) interns.
  • Christmas Party with the three (3) partner communities namely, Brgy. Baliwag, Brgy. Pantihan 3, and Brgy. Pantihan 4, on December 6-7, 2017 attended by foster families, CHO, baranggay officials, and clinical clerks. A simple gift was given to the attendees.

  • BSRT students Calel Keandre Fuentebella, Ariane Cardano, Diana Jean Caimbol, Vincent Erico Umbrero, Denina Astrid Martinito, and Michelle Padua were the Champion in the Interschool National Quiz Bee (RT Henyo) 2017 during the Philippine Association for Radiologic Technology, Inc (PART) Convention 63rd Foundation Anniversary and 48th Annual  Convention held on December 8-11, 2017 at Teachers Camp, Baguio City

  • Presentation of Ms. Noella Kim G.
