Team Academics converges for the 2nd eLearning Summit

Administrators, faculty members, Academic Support Personnel and Academic Non-Teaching Personnel gathered on July 16-17, 2018 at DLS Villarosa Convention Hall for the 2nd eLearning Summit with the theme “Applications of e-Learning for Health Education.” The two-day event was full of interesting presentations from educators and industry experts that highlighted the value of using technology in the classroom, the different technologies and their applications in education and the programs provided by enterprises to support e-learning and digital literacy.

The Center for Innovative Education and Technology Integration hosted this annual event anchored on the thrust of the Academics to optimize student learning through innovation and technology.

Organizational updates in Academics

Effective August 1, 2018, several changes have been made in the organizational structure and in the names of several colleges and departments to streamline processes, centralize services with similar job functions, provide a one-stop shop for the faculty, Academic Support Personnel and Academics Non-Teaching Personnel and reflect new thrusts of the offices concerned.

  • The College of Medical Radiation Technology shall be renamed to College of Medical Imaging and Therapy (CMIT)
  • The Office of the Student Services shall be renamed to The Student Affairs
  • The Continuing Professional Education Office shall be under the Center for Innovative Education and Technology Integration
  • All Audio-visual Technicians under the Academics shall be part of the Romeo P. Ariniego, MD Library
  • All Laboratory Technicians shall be under The Student Affairs
  • The National Service Training Office shall be part of the Comprehensive Community Health Training Program
  • The International Student Desk Unit shall be renamed to International Student Relations

Commencement Ceremonies held for new Lasallian medical and allied health graduates  

The months of June and July were milestones for the Class of 2018 as the Medicine, Master of Arts in Nursing and undergraduate students finally wore their togas, marched in the aisle and received their diplomas during the Commencement Ceremonies held at DLS Animo Center. The events were witnessed by DLSMHSI administrators, faculty members, Academic Support Personnel, Academic Non-Teaching Personnel, guests and family and friends of the graduates.

A total of 451 undergraduate and 243 graduate students were confirmed of their respective degrees:

The Commencement Ceremonies for the graduates of Doctor of Medicine happened on June 27, 2018. Jaime Alfonso M. Aherrera, MD, FAMP, FPCP, FPCC, a DLSMHSI alumnus, was invited as the commencement speaker.

The graduation rites for the graduates of the Bachelors degrees and the Master of Arts Nursing took place on July 4, 2018. Ms. Vivian Que-Azcona, industry leader, President and General Manager of Mercury Drug Corporation, was the commencement speaker.
