The Learning Commons aims to be a functional, inclusive, and flexible space that supports independent and collaborative learning. It is designed to integrate technology in the space to enrich the learning experience.
The Learning Commons is open to bona fide members of DLSMHSI such as students, faculty members, interns, residents, consultants, and staff who need space for individual and collaborative learning.
It is open Mondays to Fridays, 7:00am to 10:00pm and Saturdays 8:00am to 5:00pm during regular term and Mondays to Fridays, 7:00am to 7:00pm and Saturdays 8:00am to 5:00pm during term break. It may extend its hours until 12:00midnight Mondays to Thursdays during examination days. However, the Library is considering to open it 24 hours, 7 days a week after careful planning and observation on how the Learning Commons shall be used and after the necessary security measures have been put in place.
The Library reserves the right to close the Learning Commons during library and academic events and programs. It may also adjust the operating hours of the Learning Commons upon prior notice.
Senior high school students may use the Learning Commons until 7:00pm only, which is the latest time that they can stay inside the campus.
There are designated zones in the Library Commons to guide users on the use of the space.
- Main reading area is designated as a Quiet Space where minimal talking is permitted.
- Learning Cubes are assigned as Collaboration Space where group interaction and collaboration are encouraged.
