11:37-41

Date posted: October 15, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 11:37-41
While he was speaking, a Pharisee asked him to dine with him; so, he went in and sat at table. The Pharisee was astonished to see that he did not first wash before dinner. And the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of extortion and wickedness. You fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside also? But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, everything is clean for you.”

Reflection
Is the Lord Jesus welcomed at your table and are you ready to feast at his table? The gospel tells us the story of Jesus when he was invited to dine with a Pharisee in his home and did not follow the ceremonial act of washing his hands which angered the Pharisee. As Jesus explained of what is more important, to be clean and presentable on the outside or to be clean and pure of heart on the inside. It is not the physical appearance alone that shows what we truly are, but the cleanliness and purity of our heart that will display our love, kindness, and compassion for others. Let us all pray to God that He continue to guide and watch us and our loved ones as we continue our journey and follow the plans that He has laid out for us.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As the LGP states that, “…the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to trust in God’s loving presence and providence when acting God’s will.” As we follow the values that God has showed us in the presence of His son Jesus, we continue to grow our faith and act in God’s will and leads to life full of blessings and joy. In relation to SJBDLS, throughout his life, he encountered a lot of obstacles that tested his faith and brought sadness to him. But he did not lose hope and faith in God instead De La Salle continued to push through and serve his calling. We as a Lasallian, we are facing with a worldly challenges and temptations from our society. It is our duty to keep our faith and become the light that shines hope to the lives of everyone that we meet.
