John 11:45-57

Date posted: April 4, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

John 11:45-57
Many of the Jews who had come to Mary and seen what Jesus had done began to believe in him. But
some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. So the chief priests and the
Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and said, “What are we going to do? This man is performing many
signs. If we leave him alone, all will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our
land and our nation.”

Reflection
Today’s gospel talks about the plot to kill Jesus. The Pharisees intended to kill Jesus because many believed
in Jesus and His miracles. It serves as a threat for them to lose their power and influence in the society.
Self-preservation and crab mentality are very evident in our times. People nowadays prefer to secure
ourselves and family only, without thinking others’ security. Despite of this, Jesus sacrificed himself for the
salvation of all. When was the last time that you have sacrificed something for others? Why?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Zeal is the active expression of faith in gospel witness and service.” In relation to the
gospel, our LGP encourages us to be generous and responsible to everyone to become living witnesses in
our service to others. As Lasallians, we are following the footsteps of our founder in sharing every blessing
we have for the good of all especially to the lost, the least, and the last in the community. We prioritized
volunteerism in extending our services to people who are most in need.

Oratio Imperata on the Threat of the COVID-19 (CBCP)
God our Father,
we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us
and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked to find cure
for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted. May they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them. Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
