John 1:19-23

Date posted: January 2, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

John 1:19-23
This is the testimony of John. When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to him to ask him, “Who are
you?” he admitted and did not deny it, but admitted, “I am not the Messiah.” So they asked him, “What are you then?
Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.” So they said to him, “Who are
you, so we can give an answer to those who sent us? What do you have to say for yourself?” He said: “I am ‘the voice
of one crying out in the desert, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’”

Reflection
Our role in this world is not to become kings and queens. Rather, our mission is to emulate and carry Christ’s message to the world—to be spirited to go to the least, last and lost; to bring meaningful years to life and life to years. Hopefully, as we take the next steps in our new beginning, we remember that our vocation is not built upon personal gain and interest. In what way do we carry out God’s mission in our everyday life?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…the communion in mission is a spirit that allows one to trust one another…” This means that no
matter how different we are from each other, we are all founded and called from the same purpose: to commit our
actions in bringing compassion and love to the world. This principle allows us to recognize each one of us as brother
and sister. Our differences are not our weakness instead they bond and makes us stronger. As Lasallians, may we be
able to learn from each other and accomplish more good works when we do them together as one family. Animo La
Salle!
