John 15: 1-8

Date posted: May 22, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: John 15: 1-8
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.  Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.  “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.  If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Reflection
Jesus wants us to know that we are branches who cannot stand alone.  Jesus himself is our gardener who continuously nourishes our spirit. If we remain faithful to Him, our life will prosper and bear much fruit. If we remain loyal to our belief, the hard work we did will result into more than we ever expected. However, if we walk away from him, we will wither. May we always hold on to Him who is our vine.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, zeal for service is a whole hearted giving of oneself to the service of others, in gratuity and generosity, in creativity and fortitude, in compassion and commitment. One thing Lasallians must remember is that throughout the journey of St. La Salle, he is always faithful to his belief that made his mission successful.  He opened schools for boys and it indeed faced challenges. St. La Salle never walked away from his faith so his mission prospered even after his death. Now, his legacy is known worldwide and that is the mission to educate. He hold on to Jesus the true vine and he bear much fruit.

One Heart Prayer
God, our Father, You love us with endless mercy. You call us to be your sons and daughters. You invite us to take care of the Earth, our common home. Lord, grant us a big heart. A heart always willing to love, a compassionate heart for those who suffer, a heart where there is a place for Lasallians all around the world. We make this prayer through the intercession of May, Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through the intercession of Saint John Baptist De La Salle, patron of teachers, Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
