John 8:31-34

Date Posted: April 1, 2020 | 1:00 am

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

John 8:31-34
Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples,
and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How
can you say, ‘You will become free’?”
Jesus answered them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.

Reflection
In this Season of Lent, we meditate on the mystery of sin and the mystery of salvation. Sin is paralyzing us
and we can only find healing in Jesus, the one who will set us free from the bondage of sin. This COVID-19
is now paralyzing us. We are locked down as a community. But, we are assured that God will free us from
these paralyzing fears. Zeal is paralyzed by grave fear. Are you paralyzed right now by overwhelming fears?
What solution can we find in the gospel?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
The LGP states that, “Zeal is the active expression of faith in gospel witness and service.” Yes, zeal is an
expression of one’s selflessness. There concern citizens right now who prepares food for the frontliners
though it is risky to go out in the streets. But, the thing is, they say that they have so many blessings in life
that such simple and yet noble deed is just a natural reaction in these trying times. This is one way to make
the gospel come alive. This how the gospel inspired these people to go an extra mile.

Oratio Imperata on the Threat of the COVID-19 (CBCP)
God our Father,
we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us
and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked to find cure
for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted. May they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them. Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
