Gospel Reading

LK 1:31-35
Jesus said to the crowds: “To what shall I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance. We sang a dirge, but you did not weep.’ For John the Baptist came neither eating food nor drinking wine, and you said, ‘He is possessed by a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking and you said, ‘Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”

REFLECTION
Today’s generation is filled worldly motivations and actions. Many are succumbed with the sinful humanity – our faith questioned, actions contracted God’s will. It is in this sense that God wanted to show through the children in the market place His solidarity to man that having faith, believing in Him will lead us to a life healed by His knowledge and wisdom. He encourages us to focus our eyes in Him despite sinful noise and worldly distractions. How many of us are willing to give our worldly possession and exchange them with our faith in Him? Are we willing to respond to His calling of faith?

LASALLIAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE
Among the Principles of Lasallian Social Development is the “spirit of faith.” The Guiding Principles of the Philippine Lasallian Family declares “Individually and collectively, Lasallians must nurture our relationship with God. Today’s gospel is a great challenge for lasallians in proclaiming God’s greatness, by choosing to believe in Him and be in union with Him. Just like the children in the marketplace and St. La Salle, we have to nurture our faith in God’s goodwill and providence and lead these lives with deep commitment in avoiding sinful humanity and worldly distractions. It also challenges us to develop good relationships with humanity is developing relationship with God. “We believe in one God therefore we must help and lead each other’s lives to our final destination – to God.”

PRAYER
Lord, we are grateful of the blessings you have showered our lives. However, we tend to forget You and sometimes blame of our difficulties when worldly things distract us. Please forgive us for having little faith in You. Remind us to always listen to your word and nurture our spirit of faith in You so that we can become worthy to be called your children. Help our lives constantly bear good fruit for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us. St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us. Live Jesus in our
hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
