Luke 10, 13-16

Gospel: Luke 10, 13-16
Jesus said to them, “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And as for you, Capernaum, 'Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld.'" Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me."

Reflection
Perhaps Jesus is reminding us to be mindful. He may be asking us to be attentive not only to how and when we “judge” others but also to how we judge ourselves. We often are pretty vicious in judging ourselves. If we become aware that we are “judging” another or ourselves, may we pause, take a deep breath and deliberately let go of our judgment. Anyone who listens to you listens to me; anyone who rejects you rejects me. And those who reject me reject the one who has sent me". This phrase places the accent on the identification of the disciples with Jesus, in so far as he is despised by the authority. The disciples identify themselves with Jesus in the total gift and in this gift is realized their encounter with God, and God allows himself to be found by those who seek him.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to judge and evaluate things in the light of the gospel.” I think it means that, it’s your right to judge people. It is our nature. But it has to be in the right place. I should not come to that point wherein you will ruin someone’s life. When we evaluate things or give feedbacks, see to it that it is done objectively and guided by the gospel message.

Prayer
Oh loving Father, help us to be mindful that it is not our place to judge others. We are no better than they are, and you will bring down and lift up as you see fit. Help us to trust your almighty plan and the power of your love to capture hearts and transform people. Thank you for capturing our hearts. O Holy Spirit, transform us to love unconditionally just as you do. Help us to see people the way you see them, and to be filled with compassion, especially to those who persecute us. Help us to respond with love instead of anger and bitterness. God, You make the impossible possible. Thank you for filling us with your love and freeing us from the compulsion to judge others. All this we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lasallian Prayer for Peace
We pray to you, O Lord,
God of life and God of those who hope!
Listen to our prayer for the whole world:
For peace among all peoples,
For prosperity in all lands.
We pray to you that evil may be overcome
And that all wars may end.
We pray to You especially for the members
Of our Lasallian Family,
Who suffer from war, injustice and intolerance,
And for children and young people who are poor ad neglected.
We pray too, God, for peace in our lives;
In our towns, in our schools,
In our families and in our own hearts.
We pray for a peace that the world cannot give us.
We pray for a peace that will make us whole
And transform us into ambassadors of justice for Your sake.
Lord, give us Your peace! Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
