Luke 10:13-16

Date posted: October 4, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 10:13-16
Jesus said to them, “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And as for you, Capernaum, ‘Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld.'” Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

Reflection
If Jesus were to visit your community today, what would he say? Would he issue a warning like the one he gave to Chorazin and Bethsaida? Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for their narrow-mindedness. Their minds are close and they appear to be perfect in all their actions. The Gospel tells us that we will be judged according to our deeds. We will be saved if we accept God as our savior and do what He teaches. We must not reject the message of the Lord for it will lead to our downfall. May God always guide us, our family and loved ones, to the right path He sets for us. May He also bless us with strong faith, wisdom and loving kindness.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the Lasallian Guiding Principle, the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to judge and evaluate things in the light of the gospel. One should evaluate the path that he/she walks. Our founder, St. John Baptist de la Salle trusted the Lord amidst his own doubts and anxieties. He was able to bring to the world the gospel message through education to the poor. As Lasallians, we must not forget that our mission is to help our needy brothers and sisters. We help and serve others. We are not like the Pharisees in the Gospel.

One Life Prayer
Holy Spirit You love us and offer us the gift of association. You call us to live with joy. You invite us to be people with a creative inner life. Lord, grant us your strength for a life full of meaning Fill us with your grace so that we will live the values of the gospel our inner life will grow. And that we will be credible witnesses Together with the entire Lasallian Family In the midst of our world. We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through The intercession of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.

Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
