Luke 10:17-24

Date posted: October 5, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 10:17-24
The seventy-two disciples returned rejoicing and said to Jesus, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us because of your name.” Jesus said, “I have observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky. Behold, I have given you power ‘to tread upon serpents’ and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” At that very moment he rejoiced (in) the Holy Spirit and said, “I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.” Turning to the disciples in private He said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.”

Reflection
Have you taken time to recognize the presence of God in your life, thank Him for His boundless love and the invitation to co-labor with Him to bring others to Him? It is very important to not just recognize God, but to appreciate Him in our lives as well. He has done so much that it sometimes makes us undeserving of His love because we cannot give exactly what He has given us. His gracious, eternal love for us saved us and is still saving us from all our sins, and that itself is something to be thankful for. The gospel wants us to have ourselves a check if we recognize and appreciate God’s presence in our lives. Also, it encourages us to see beyond the blessings He is showering us. May we continue to see Jesus in the face of our brothers and sisters.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the Lasallian Guiding Principle, the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to judge and evaluate things in the light of the gospel. The statement means that our faith will allow us to perform our responsibilities and obligations as children of God. The gospel allows us to build stronger faith in God so that we can be all contributors of goodness in the world we are living in – this also allows us to help others know God the way we know Him. Our founder St. John Baptist De La Salle promoted goodness and kindness even to those unfortunate enough to be fully aware of God’s sacrifices for them. The challenge for each Lasallians now is to do something great even in a simple way. It might be simple but it gives a big impact to the lives of other people.
