Date posted: July 21, 2019

Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Luke 10:38-42
At the Home of Martha and Mary
38  As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.  39  She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40  But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
41  “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,  42  but few things are needed—or indeed only one. [a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Reflection
“You are worried and upset about many things”. Like Martha, sometimes we are worried about the things to be done in school, in our work or even at home. We always want to make every moment an experience worth to be remember. But sometimes, because of our different concerns we tend to forget the most important thing to do which is to put God at the center of our lives. In the Gospel, Mary chose to be with God and cherish every minute that she is with Him. Furthermore, this gospel also invites us to have faith like Mary, a person who is willing to offer her whole life. A person who can see the most essential, the most important decision to make which is to stay with God and be with God, Forever.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
We recognize the uniqueness of each person in manners and in words In the Lasallian Guiding Principle, Br. Alvaro Rodriguez Echevarria, FSC wrote a letter stated that “In MYSELF, the temple of the Trinity. The more I go deeply into myself the more I encounter God.” This is an affirmation that in every moment of our lives, we can encounter God because He is always present within us. Like St. John Baptist De La Salle who moved and made the initiative to act because he believed that Jesus lives in the heart of every person. Therefore, everyone deserves an equal rights and treatment especially in having a quality education. So that, in the end, those children who are blessed by this opportunity becomes a blessing to others especially to those who are in need.

Lord Jesus,
You love us all and make us your brothers and sisters.
You call us to follow you.
You invite us to announce the Good News.

Teach us to go beyond our borders.
Teach us to discover you in the lowliest
Teach us to see with the eyes of faith
Teach us to share our mission with all Lasallians
Throughout the whole world.
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary,
Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools,
And through the intercession of St. John Baptist de la Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.
