Luke 10:38-42

Date posted: October 8, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 10:38-42
Now as they went on their way, he entered a village; and a woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving; and she went to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me." But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; one thing is needful. Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her."

Reflection
Does the peace of Christ reign in your home and in your personal life? Sometimes, we are too busy with life that we don’t have time to pray and listen anymore. In the scripture, Martha was very busy preparing food for Jesus, and complained why Mary was not helping her. Jesus wanted Martha to be like Mary, He wanted her to listen to Him. By surrendering ourselves completely to Jesus we learn from Him and we develop a much deeper relationship with Him. I pray that we will always seek God in every aspect of our lives and be reminded of His word each and every day.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the Lasallian Guiding Principles, the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out His saving plan. The gospel calls us to cast all our anxieties and worries to God for He cares and listens. When we act according to His word and pray without ceasing, our lives will be aligned to His plan and purpose. St. John Baptist De La Salle believes that we should hold prayer in high esteem for it is the foundation of all virtues and the source of all grace needed to sanctify ourselves. We should always keep in mind that in every step that we’re taking, God is with us. Therefore, we must never forget the importance of prayer and thanksgiving; for it will help us recognize God, repent from our sins, and be reminded of God’s loving presence.
