Gospel: Luke 11, 1-4
Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us, and do not subject us to the final test.”

Reflection
The scripture contains the first part of ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ that we are all familiar with. In our lives, there are some days when we are feeling so overwhelmed and happy, and there are some where we feel like God isn’t there anymore. Prayer is something that should be done on both. We should remember God when he blessed us with a wonderful day, not only when we feel like there is no other choice. Prayer is the acknowledgement that our need is not partial; it is total. When we pray, we strengthen our relationship with the Lord. We can be open when it comes to talking to Him, and as we ask for forgiveness we should also learn to forgive those who did us wrong. I believe that what’s being said in this gospel is not really the standard but more of a guide, so we know that we can be fully transparent upon confessing to God. What is your prayer intention today?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan.” Lasallians are nurtured from the beginning to have the spirit of faith, so that no matter how independent we become, we know that we can depend on God. No matter how far we’ve come in life, no matter how many achievements we receive and failures we overcome, He will always be there. We are raised to be God’s children, therefore, everything we do must be in accordance to His commandments and His ways.

Prayer
Almighty Father, please help us all overcome our pride, may we learn to bow down and humble ourselves before you. Please forgive us for our physical and mental faults, because of these Lord we ask for your mercy and guidance. We know that we aren’t worthy, but we are willing to follow the plan that you have for us. Amongst the things that we are sorry for, at the end of the day we are all still blessed and we are grateful. Thank you for your grace, God. This we pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

Lasallian Prayer for Peace
We pray to you, O Lord,
God of life and God of those who hope!
Listen to our prayer for the whole world:
For peace among all peoples,
For prosperity in all lands.
We pray to you that evil may be overcome
And that all wars may end.
We pray to You especially for the members
Of our Lasallian Family,
Who suffer from war, injustice and intolerance,
And for children and young people who are poor ad neglected.
We pray too, God, for peace in our lives;
In our towns, in our schools,
In our families and in our own hearts.
We pray for a peace that the world cannot give us.
We pray for a peace that will make us whole
And transform us into ambassadors of justice for Your sake.
Lord, give us Your peace! Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
