Luke 11: 47-54

Date posted: October 17, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 11: 47-54
The Lord said: “Woe to you! You build the memorials of the prophets whom your ancestors killed. Consequently, you bear witness and give consent to the deeds of your ancestors, for they killed them and you do the building. Therefore, the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; some of them they will kill and persecute’ in order that this generation might be charged with the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah who died between the altar and the temple building. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be charged with their blood! Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” When he left, the scribes and Pharisees began to act with hostility toward him and to interrogate him about many things, for they were plotting to catch him at something he might say.

Reflection
Today’s gospel talks about the conflict between Jesus and to the other religious authorities during that time. They are criticizing Jesus. For me, today’s gospel is about not having a blind eye for the wrongdoings but instead we should always do what is right and to teach our fellow men that God is always fair, and that our every actions will always have their corresponding consequences. I pray that we should always have God in our mind most importantly when it comes to justice.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…the Spirit of Faith is a spirit that allows one to trust in God’s loving presence and providence when acting God’s will.” In relation to the gospel, we should always trust God in his plans. Always remember that there’s always a purpose behind every challenges. In relation to St. John Baptist De La Salle, unlike those people that was mentioned in the gospel, SJBDLS was always doing what he thinks God allows him to do and one of the visible action he did is educating young people during his time. For the Lasallians today, the gospel challenge us all that we should always have the key of knowledge for the modern times and always follow the footsteps of our SJBDLS teachings and way of life.
