Luke 11:1-4

Date posted: October 9, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 11:1-4
He was praying in a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation.”

Reflection
Do I pray with joy and confidence? The gospel is all about how Jesus Christ who taught his disciples to pray. He gave them a simple prayer that the disciples might use on a regular basis known as Our Father or the Lord’s Prayer. I learned from the gospel that all I have to do is to pray with joy and confidence in my heart. Because God sacrificed His only Son to save us from sin. We are now capable of boldly approaching God our Father and asked him about the necessities that we needed in our daily lives. As for me, aside from praying for the happiness of the ones I love, I asked God to use me as an instrument to give hope to those who are sick. I asked Him to guide me in my studies in order for me to fulfill my dreams of providing therapeutic care to those who are in need.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the Lasallian Guiding Principles, the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out His saving plan. In relation to the gospel, one should pray to our God not only with joy and confidence but also with faith in their heart. If one is truly faithful in worshipping and trusting our Lord, rest assured that this faith answers one’s prayers. Our Founder, St. John Baptist De La Salle, was moved with passion whenever he sees poor and abandoned children. Responding in faith, he devoted his whole life to help these children by building schools that can provide them with dedicated teachings and Christian education. Nowadays, every Lasallian faces the constant struggle of maintaining the faith in their heart when in front of adversity. What we can all do to overcome this problem is to continuously communicate with God through prayer and ask for His guidance and blessings.

One Life Prayer

Lord, grant us your strength for a life full of meaning Fill us with your grace so that we will live the values of the gospel our inner life will grow. And that we will be credible witnesses Together with the entire Lasallian Family In the midst of our world. We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through The intercession of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.
