Luke 11:29-32

Date posted: October 14, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 11:29-32
When the crowds were increasing, he began to say, “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah became a sign to the men of Nineveh, so will the Son of man be to this generation. The queen of the South will arise at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.

Reflection
Why do I have to pay attention to warning signs? The gospel talks about the deliberate blindness of the people of His generation towards the signs and miracles that Jesus gave. The gospel reminds us not to be ignorant and obtuse regarding the warnings and signs from God that could benefit us in the long run. We could avoid pain and suffering if we take the signs seriously.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan.” In relation to the gospel, we may be able to search for God’s will if we teach ourselves to acknowledge and practice His teachings. St. John Baptist De La Salle helped other people to open their eyes and realize the importance of God’s teachings by establishing educational institutions. St. La Salle created opportunities for the poor and he used it as a way to spread the Word of God. Sometimes we may not see the bigger picture but sometimes we just have to place our trust in God and understand that behind all the misgivings and problems we may face, God will always look out for us.
