Luke 1:26-38

Date posted: December 8, 2018

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Luke 1:26-38
“In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be.    And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.    And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.    He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David,   and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.    And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.   For nothing will be impossible with God.” And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.”

Reflection
The gospel today is about the biggest day the world has ever known, the Annunciation to Mary. This was the beginnings of a new point in history, in a small village, involving an unknown woman, and vague promises from an angel. It was God saving us in his Son, through a woman, a mother. We join with God in saving. We can see this in this time of the year. The goodness of many people is saving us from effects of evil and bettering the lives of many. God looked on the world and the great needs. The Son of God was sent us through Mary. And now through each of us this day saving the world through our care and love. As we celebrate today the feast of Our Lady of Immaculate Concepcion the unique privilege by which the Virgin Mary was conceived in her mother’s womb without the stain of original sin through the anticipated merits of Jesus Christ. This day is a holy day of obligation in which many Christians, particularly of the Catholic faith, attend special church services for this occasion.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…communion as a way of accomplishing mission suggests the solidarity and collaboration that come from sharing in one vision, one spirit and one mission.” In relation to gospel, one of the great delusions goes with wealth, power and states we control our life. The most difficult lessons for us is to realize that God values the heart , not we possess. We are only stewards of his possessions. When the day draws near when Christ shall take his powers and reign as the King of Kings and Lords of Lords. His kingdom alone shall not an everlasting kingdom, and his domain will not pass away. This day is a holy day of obligation in which many Christians, particularly of the Catholic faith, attend special church services for this occasion.

Prayer
O God , who by the light of Immaculate Concepcion , didst prepare a worthy dwelling place for thy Son We beseech thee that , as by the foreseen death of thy son , thou didst preserve her form all stain, so too thou wouldst permit us , purified through her intercession through the same Lord Jesus Christ ,thy son who l lives with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost. My God for my salvation of all mankind , I adore you for all the time for every soul that I ever was or shall be created. This we pray, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
