Luke 1:26 – 38

Date posted: December 12, 2018

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Luke 1:26 – 38
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!”. But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom where there will be no end.” And Mary said to the angel, “How shall this be, since I have no husband?” And the angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.” And Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Reflection
When Mary agreed to angel Gabriel’s request ; she did not blindly accept God’s plans but, she humbly submitted to God with immense courage and a deep understanding of God’s wisdom. Because of that, Mary has a beautiful connection between her and her son, Jesus. Many people don’t realize the importance of having a close relationship with Jesus and how Jesus asks us each day to be close to him as how he is to his mother. Through difficult or good times, it is good to remember that Jesus is fully in charge of our world, nothing is impossible to him. There is always hope, we just have to believe in Jesus as he believes in us. Everyday, Jesus invites us to receive him into our deepest
selves as Mary did, and allow him to grow in there. Having trust and faith in Jesus we build a close relationship with him.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…communion as a way of accomplishing mission suggests the solidarity and collaboration that come from sharing in one vision, one spirit and one mission.” As a Lasallian, to be able accomplish our mission we have to begin by building a close relationship with God each day. We should not only remember him through difficult times but, remember him through good times as well. God’s love for us is unconditional and he will never lead us to harm. Allowing him to grow in our hearts, and trusting what God had planned for us, will help us in sharing one vision, one spirit, and one mission. Nothing is impossible to God as long as we believe in him.

Prayer
Lord, thank you for always being there for us, through whatever circumstances we may be in. For letting us grow as the person we are today, because of your love. We are grateful for the life and gifts you had given us. May we be able to open our eyes, hearts, and mind to accept what life you had planned for us. We will always be grateful, and remain faithful to only you, lord. You are forever in our hearts.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist De La Salle, pray for us. St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for
us. Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
