Luke 1:26-38

Date posted: March 25, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 1:26-38
Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the
power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even
Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive
is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May
your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Reflection
The gospel tells us how Mary was chosen to be the vessel of the Son of God and how she responded
faithfully to the will of God despite of confusions and hesitations. Mary’s faithfulness to her calling challenges
us to become faithful servants of God specially when we are confused and facing challenges in life. We
believe God never abandoned his faithful servant like He did with Mary. In this moment, we are facing crisis
in the whole world, how do we see God in our everyday challenges and trials?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
The LGP states that, “Zeal for service is a whole-hearted giving of oneself to the service of others, in gratuity
and generosity, in creativity and fortitude, in compassion and commitment.” St. John Baptist de La Salle, his
commitment to the education of young people was driven by his deep faith in God’s providence. With this,
he was able to encourage others to also have faith in Him. As Lasallians, we must do our part in applying
our core values and principles to spread the Word of God and to follow Him whole-heartedly even in times
of doubt.

Oratio Imperata on the Threat of the COVID-19 (CBCP)
God our Father,
we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us
and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked to find cure
for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted. May they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them. Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
