Luke 17: 26-37

Date posted: November 16, 2018

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Luke 17: 26-37
Jesus said to his disciples: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man; they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage up to the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Similarly, as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building; on the day when Lot left Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all. So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed. On that day, a person who is on the housetop and whose belongings are in the house must not go down to get them, and likewise a person in the field must not return to what was left behind. Remember the wife of Lot. Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it. I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed; one will be taken, the other left. And there will be two women grinding meal together; one will be taken, the other left. They said to him in reply, “Where, Lord?” He said to them, “Where the body is, there also the vultures will gather.”

Reflection
The gospel tells us that we don’t know when will God come to us, we don’t know what will happen for a day, we don’t know why something happens to us, or simply we don’t know when is the end of time or when are we going to die. In life, we always make a choice everyday. There’s no day that passes by without us making simple to complicated decisions. We should always remember that the most significant thing that we should do or have in our life is to be happy and contented. We should always live our life to the fullest. Let us put in our minds that material possessions can’t be brought to heaven when we die, everything remains here on earth. The greatest thing that we could have eternally and we could brought to heaven is happiness. If we know that we always choose the decisions that we want but ofcourse still considering its possible consequences, then we won’t have to be fearful of dying. Having faith in God is a must because He is our savior and creator. He is the only one who knows the best for us. Everything happens for a reason, as long as we know that we always choose what we know is best for us, let’s leave the rest to God.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to trust in God’s loving presence and providence when acting or discerning God’s will.” This only wants to tell us that we always need to trust God with his plans for us. He won’t do anything which He knows will harm us. He always listen to us especially to our prayers. Sometimes he might not give us what we want immediately but that is because God has a perfect timing for everything. As stated in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Nothing is impossible if we believe in our Savior Jesus Christ. Most importantly, all we need to do is to always bring out the best of us and to always choose the best decisions that we know in life so that no matter what happens to us we know that we are happy and contented even if the end of time comes because we don’t know when will that come. “Do your best and let God do the rest!” (Colossians 3: 23-24).
