Luke 18:1-5

Date posted: November 16, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 18:1-5
Jesus told his disciples a parable about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary. He said, “There was a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor respected any human being. And a widow in that town used to come to him and say, “Render a just decision for me against my adversary.” For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, “While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being, because this widow keeps bothering me I shall deliver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike me.”

Reflection
Persistence and perseverance are the two values illustrated in the Gospel. Even the unjust judge conceded to the petition of the persistent widow. We must never stop praying and lose heart to our belief. If the dishonest judge can’t stand the consistency of the widow, how much more is our Loving Father who created us. When was the last time you became tireless in prayer?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the Lasallian Guiding Principles, “…the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out His saving plan and trust in God’s loving presence and providence when acting or discerning God’s will.” The LGP calls us to be determined in carrying out our mission as Lasallians. Like St John Baptist De La Salle time when he faced the different challenges in his time, may we grow into dependable on our mission in educating and transforming the lives of the people in our community especially those who are in need.

One Life Prayer
Holy Spirit
You love us and offer us the gift of association.
You call us to live with joy
You invite us to be people with a creative inner life
Lord, grant us your strength for a life full of meaning
Fill us with your grace so that we will live the values of the gospel.
Our inner life will grow
And that we will be credible witnesses
Together with the entire Lasallian Family
In the midst of our world.
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary
Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through
The intercession of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de La salle, pray for us.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
