Luke 19, 45-48

Date posted: November 23, 2018

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Luke 19, 45-48
Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things, saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.'”
And every day he was teaching in the temple area. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.

Reflection
Nowadays, we often display different things, material or non-material, in the House of God that we tend to forget that it is build as a beautiful and a place of joy and peace. In the gospel, Jesus said, “It is written, “My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have it a den of thieves.”, this passage showed how people started to forget serving in the House of Prayer and diverted themselves to serve to different Gods. It was clearly displayed that the den of thieves was God’s House of Prayer and the thieves itself, are the robbery of the spirits which we are serving. It may be idolatry, business deals, even for the love of money, power and evil.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that “As a relationship with God, it is the source of all mission and ministry; as a way accomplishing mission, it suggests the solidarity and collaboration…”  In relation to the gospel, the temple of Jesus will never be complete without His listeners. No one shall disrespect His temple, neither the chief priests or the teachers of the law. As a follower of God, it is our mission to make His temple the perfect place to learn and reflect on his teachings. However, we could only do this if we enrich the temple of our own, our spirituality and faithfulness to God. As a lasallian, we are gathered to form one vision, one spirit and one mission, and that is to serve not only God but also the poor and vulnerable.

Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We pray to you, to give us a deeper understanding of your words and the church. Please keep reminding us, especially the ones who are lost, that you wishes us to meet you in your “House of Prayer”. We ask for yourm forgiveness for we are frequently cluttered up to the space with less important interests than the church. If we are confronted by everyday tensions between ideals and experience, we pray that we’ll become cynical yet standing with you, God. We believe that you have a wider plan for us and all that you have purposed for the world.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
