Luke 21:12-19

Date posted: November 28, 2018

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Luke 21:12-19
Jesus said to the crowd: “They will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name. It will lead to your giving testimony. Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute. You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head will be destroyed.
By your perseverance you will secure your lives.”

Reflection
We are told in today’s Gospel about the second coming and the events that must occur before the Son of Man returns. Many Christians today are afraid of issues of the last judgment. We are carried away by prophesies of when the world would come. As Jesus tells us in the gospel, no one knows the time that this will come. The opening of the Gospel includes the questioning of ornate and costly decorations in the Temple.  Jesus says that they can be ignored as they will make no difference as buildings will fall and all will be leveled in the End.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to support and promote creative and holistic education.” In relation to the gospel, the creative and holistic education that God gave us allows us humans to seek out the truth that as long as we believe in Him and His son, we are safe. There are, and there will be many, temptations and negative influences that will come into our lives, straying us away from God. However, the gospel promises that as long as we believe in Him, no harm will come to us. The Lasallian Guiding Principle of creative and holistic education entirely relates to this gospel as we should continuously seek out the word of God through effective means. This education on God’s word will keep us safe from the aforementioned temptations and negative influences.

Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, we thank you for all the gracious blessings that you continuously shower us. May we always be reminded to be grateful to You as You give us everything to us. As student, we thank you for giving us a chance to learn new things and discovering all your creations through your gift of creative and holistic education. We ask for Your apology for all our shortcomings and failure to take care all of Your creations. We ask for your guidance every day, so we can do our part as a good student, a good citizen, and a good son or daughter. Lord, continue to guide us every day until our last and during our way back to you. Help us to know the saving power of Your love. Save us from all the disasters and always keep us by your side untill day that You will come again. You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
