Luke 7,31-35

Date posted: September 18, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Luke 7,31-35
Jesus said to the crowds: “To what shall I compare the people of this generation? What are they like?
They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance. We sang a dirge, but you did not weep.’
For John the Baptist came neither eating food nor drinking wine, and you said, ‘He is possessed by a demon.’
The Son of Man came eating and drinking and you said, ‘Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’
But wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”

Reflection
Are we open for change? The ones who know the rules of God the most, are the ones who were the most blinded by their own pride. The people who never played by the blinded rules, but were living a righteous life, were the ones who get criticized by the prideful mouths who do not know anything. We are like the “crowd” who acts like children, criticizing others noticing that they are doing something different in this society. On the other hand, the real children are the ones who hold the true meaning of wisdom who speaks and sees the goodness in people. Once a person notices her mistakes, it would be wise to change for the better. I pray that everyone would open their eyes to see the world as a place to grow and be better.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith allows one to search God’s will in order to carry out His saving plan. Through the gospel and our faith, we can realize that we have a lot of things to work on with ourselves. It is a challenge that Jesus has laid out for all of us who are still searching. St. John Baptist De La Salle may not be a perfect person, and
he may have experienced a lot of difficulties that a normal person would have, but he has worked on himself to prove that he holds the wisdom and faith that he has needed to influence others with goodness in their hearts. May all lasallians continue to stand for truth and justice and be willing to be an agent of change.

One Life Prayer
Holy Spirit
You love us and offer us the gift of association.
You call us to live with joy
You invite us to be people with a creative inner life
Lord, grant us your strength for a life full of meaning
Fill us with your grace so that we will live the values of the gospel
Our inner life will grow
And that we will be credible witnesses
Together with the entire Lasallian Family
In the midst of our world.
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary
Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through
The intercession of Saint John Baptist de la Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.
