Luke 9: 1-6

Date posted: September 25, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy presence of God
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 9: 1-6
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.” Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.

Reflection
As a member of the Lasallian community, how will you profess and proclaim the great news of God? According to St. Luke, Jesus gave power and authority to the twelve apostles to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to cure diseases and heal the sick. The gospel challenges me to be a soldier of God and be His instrument of healing and
observe the Lasallian Core Values: spirit of faith, zeal for service, communion in mission, and most especially reverence life. May we continue to live up the essence of mercy and compassion towards other people and adhere to what Mother Theresa had said, “It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”

Lasallian Guiding Principles
As stated in the LGP, The spirit of faith allows one to search God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan. God’s will of helping and serving the people had been carried out through the spirit of faith which was embodied by the twelve apostles. He planned to send forth the apostles to proclaim His good news and heal the sick. St. John Baptist de La Salle, as the founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, taught the value of solidarity in building up educational communities to young people, especially those who are the lost, the last and the least. May we manifest the core values of St. La Salle and be an upholder of his teachings.
