Gospel Reading

Luke 9:1-6
And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal. And he said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics. And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.” And they departed and went through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

Reflection
Under whose power do we run our lives now? During the time of Jesus, He breathed unto the apostles the spirit to do miracles. With strong faith, they were able to do impossible things. They carried not their names to be popular but they testified that they function under the power of Jesus the Christ. Believers started to follow and were able to do the same. Under the same Spirit do contemporary healers operate now and all were made possible because faith is abounding in them. The Gospel for today invites us to let Jesus work in our daily lives.

Lasallian Guiding Principles
Our Founder St. John Baptist De La Salle performed his mission under the power of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is clearly manifested in his dedication to give human and Christian education to the poor boys of France during the 17th century. Lasallians now are being called to let the Spirit of Christ continue to operate in all our undertakings. With this, everything will be in their proper perspective.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, make us channels of your grace and healing love that others may find life and freedom in you. Free us from all other attachments that we may joyfully pursue the things of your heavenly kingdom. May we witness to others the joy of the Gospel both in word and deed. We make this prayer in Your Mighty Name with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever, Amen.
