Luke 9:18-22

Date posted: September 27, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy presence of God
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 9:18-22
Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” They said in reply, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’”  Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said in reply, “The Messiah of God.” He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone. He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.

Reflection
Today, it is Jesus himself who asks this central question, “who do the crowds say that I am?” not all people knows Him well but for the people who really knows Him knew that He is the Messiah, the Son of God, and the Savior. In this gospel, Peter said that Jesus was the Messiah, he declared his faith in Him that Jesus would die and rise. He may not have known that at the time, but the realization of his big loving truth would keep him going in many difficult times. And for us, it will do the same if we tend to know God more.

LGP
As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith allows one to search God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan. We have to know our God with all our hearts, not just because He is God, rather He is the God who saved us from all our sins and take all our sufferings. Saint John Baptist de La Salle, sought God and became an instrument to tell each and every one of us who God really is by building a school wherein all of us Lasallians were taught about God in our lives.

One Life Prayer
Holy Spirit
You love us and offer us the gift of association.
You call us to live with joy
You invite us to be people with creative inner life
Lord, grant us your strength for a life full of meaning
Fill us with your grace so that we will live the values of the gospel
Our inner life will grow.
And that we will be credible witnesses
Together with the entire Lasallian family
In the midst of our world
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary
