Luke 9:46-50

Date posted: September 30, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy presence of God
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 9:46-50
46 And an argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest.
47 But when Jesus perceived the thought of their hearts, he took a child and put him by his side,
48 and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me; for he who is least among you all is the one who is great.”
49 John answered, “Master, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us.”
50 But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him; for he that is not against you is for you.”

Reflection
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? The gospel is all about promoting equality and forbidding discrimination to foster in society. In the first place, instead of competing with each other we should follow the footsteps of Jesus as he came not to be served but to serve. It simply teaches us not look down on the poor or preach the rich but instead serve one another regardless of our social hierarchy or status. Through this, I pray that people will always see the good in others and anyone who has bullied will be healed, and those who bully would stop, so that we could cultivate a world of kindness and acceptance that Jesus would have done if He was still alive today.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
The reason why our founder St. John Baptist De La Salle became happy during his time is because he invested not on the riches of the world but on the riches of loving service to the poor. LGP states that the spirit of faith invites us always to search for God’s will. Basically, this involves searching for the best way to carry out God's saving plan. God’s saving plan is the integral salvation and liberation of all, and especially of those who experience the greatest level of need. The challenges for each lasallian now is their emotions towards life and studies which can lead to depression but we should believe in God’s will that He will save us.
May all lasallians continue to follow our founder’s examples.
