Gospel Reading

Luke 9,7-9
Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying, “John has been raised from the dead”; others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”; still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.” But Herod said, “John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” And he kept trying to see him.

Reflection
The way to see Jesus is to look through God’s original blessings of faith; wherein it does not take away the veil of mystery but it keeps us looking through it in wonder and hope. I remember my students in the mission (Pakistan and Cambodia) who lacks of material, physical and financial opportunities even in the most chaotic time but was able to dream and made it through success. There, I learned that in the unfortunate situations, something good will come out. Teilhard de Chardin says that “we cannot yet understand exactly where it leads us, but it would be absurd for us to doubt that it will lead us towards some end of supreme value” (pp.67-68). It taught me a lesson of total abandonment to God’s will (Philippians 4:19). My inner journey as a teacher speaks out the voice of God crying in midst of the poor (in all forms of poverty: physical, spiritual, and material). The voice of God within speaks loudly through the forms of ministry I render that have essentially the same underlying purpose: compassion, wholeness and presence. Furthermore, love is a relationship which gives birth to a kind of compassion that gives you a juice of power, passion to move and insights which when you put into practice can bring out change. They are gifts for us to claim now in the healing of our world (Interconnectedness, Macy, p.34). How did you experience total abandonment to God’s will?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to trust in God’s loving presence and providence when acting God’s will.” Our Lasallian Mission is God’s work. If is God’s work then we are assured of God’s graces to help us realize our mission work. Sometimes, it is hard to entrust ourselves to someone we do not see. But, as we look deeply, we realize that God has always been providing us blessings to share in His very mission.

Prayer
Lord, our great provider, we abandon ourselves to be able to follow You and do Your will. Teach us not to worry about tomorrow. We believe that You will not abandon us and that You will always take care of our needs. These we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
