Mark 1:14-20

Date posted: January 13, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mark 1:14-20
Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled,
and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel.” And passing along by the Sea of Galilee, he
saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him.

Reflection
What is this Gospel of Christ? The word “gospel” literally means “good news”. In announcing the good news, Jesus
gave two explicit things each of us must do in order to receive the Kingdom of God – repent and believe. When we
submit to Christ’s rule in our lives and believe the gospel message the Lord. Jesus will give us the grace and power to
live a new way of life as citizens of His Kingdom. How can we proclaim the Good News to others?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…the communion in mission is a spirit that allows one to trust one another…” This implies that as
members of the community, one of our most important roles is to help the community to flourish and to help our less fortunate friends in their struggles. As Lasallians, we must find what it truly means to be a servant of the Lord. We must learn how to work together as a community in response to the call of the times, just like Father De La Salle.
