Mark 12:28-31

Date posted: March 20, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Mark 12:28-31
One of the scribes who had listened to them debating appreciated that Jesus had given a good answer
and put a further question to him, ‘Which is the first of all the commandments? Jesus replied, ‘This is the
first: Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the one, only Lord and you must love the Lord your God with all
your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength The second is this: You must
love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.

Reflection
The gospel is all about how do the people tested Jesus as the Messiah or the Son of God. They wanted to
defile Jesus’ credibility to the people but Jesus answered it in the simplest way. He even encouraged all to
Love God and to love our neighbor as we have loved ourselves. In this Lenten season, during this COVID19 pandemic, how can we best express our love to God and to our neighbors?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
The LGP states that, “Zeal for service is a whole-hearted giving of oneself to the service of others, in gratuity
and generosity, in creativity and fortitude, in compassion and commitment.” Jesus wholeheartedly embodied
the zeal for service when he genuinely taught the scribe of what he should prioritize in His life based from
the commandments. As Lasallians, may we embody the spirit of faith in our life by doing noble services to
others as we continue our mission started by our Father Founder St. La Salle.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against COVID-19,
That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace

To work for the good of all
And to help those in need.
Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, forever and ever. Amen.
