Mark 13:24-32

Date posted: November 18, 2018

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Mark 13:24-32
But in those days, following that distress, “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens. “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Reflection
This gospel talks about Jesus speaking of the truths about his message and was asked about what will come in the future. Jesus looked at the fig tree and said that we will know when winter and summer is coming. Just like in our time, his presence can be sensed in different ways in our lives. It may not be helpful in the end, but it gives us awareness on how God is with us.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, "The spirit of faith flows from a relationship of communion with the Triune God who wills to save all people…" God always reminds us that your relationship with him is important. We should always remember that there is a God who is always there for us, with that we should always be there for Him by always praying, serving the people, and loving our neighbor. God tells us to live out this life in his love so that we may be prepared for when he comes back to save us all. As La Sallians, we should not keep to ourselves the glory of God, but rather spread to all people His greatness so that other people can be saved. “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done” (Psalm 105:1) Let us continue to live our lives in His word and in His name.

Prayer
God, you are our Lord over the entire universe. You created everything in this world for us to experience the gift of life. Always reminds us to keep our focus on you. Remind us that everything in this world will fade, all except You and Your words. Help us to know You more and Your greatness for us to spread in all corners of the world. Teach us to be the light in other peoples lives. Help us to be prepared in anything and everything, and teach us to live out this life proclaiming your glory. This we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
