Mark 8:27-33

Date posted: February 20, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mark 8:27-33
Jesus and his disciples set out for the villages of Caesarea Philippi. Along the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” They said in reply, “John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others one of the prophets.” And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said to him in reply, “You are the Messiah.” Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him. He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and rise after three days. He spoke this openly. Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. At this he turned around and, looking at his disciples, rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.”

Reflection
The gospel was referring to the ideas and misconceptions that people has about who Jesus is. Jesus is Christ and He is the one who saves us from our sin. Knowledge of God and true understanding of His works and purpose will only be realized if we have come to know Him through the Bible. Let us not be like Peter who speaks from emotion and false pretenses. Let us live accordingly with God’s path, integrating His words into our actions. Who is Jesus to you?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Avenues and opportunities for self-propelled individual, collective and institutional life-affirming action to respond to varied social issues must be provided in every Lasallian institution.” There are many challenges that we must face in our community. Just like how Jesus offered his hand to the blind man, we must also offer our service in accommodating the unprivileged. So, Lasallians are challenged to help other people who are in need whether by giving or volunteering for anything that we can offer. “Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.” (Mark 8:27- 33). Now, we must open our eyes to the reality of what is happening in our society. Let us do everything in our power to extend our hand to those in need.

Prayer for the Year of Ecumenism, Inter-Religious Dialogue and Indigenous Peoples
Almighty, Ever-living God, the most Merciful and Compassionate, we thank You for Creation and the life You have given us. Together, we people of diverse religions, spiritual expressions and indigenous traditions who invoke You by different names, humbly pray that You give us the opportunity to encounter each other through Dialogue, to reach mutual respect and reciprocal acceptance of each other, and to break down the walls of division that stand at the center of most misunderstandings and conflicts.
Make us instruments of Your Light, Love and Peace. Guide us to walk always in Your Path and be a source of hope to
everyone so that we may discover Your Divine Presence in each other.
Show us the way to Harmony and Unity to reach the fullness of human fraternity. Give us the wisdom to discern the Truth and to freely choose what is right and just to make this world a better place to live in.
Together, we ask You for the wisdom and the courage to fulfil Your Will that all may be ONE. Amen
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary
Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through
the intercession of Saint John Baptist de la Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
