Mathew 9: 9-13

Date posted: September 21, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mathew 9: 9-13
As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him. And as he sat at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”  But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.  Go and learn what this means, `I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Reflection
God personally callled us by our names and we should aim and reply to Him personally. All of us are sinners, and has shortcomings when it comes to our service for the Lord. Yet God is so merciful that he is ready to forgive us and call us unworthy as we are. God came for those unworthy yet will be made worthy of His grace. The Gospel reminds us that we are all sinners but we still deserve God’s love and forgiveness. Our unworthiness is calling for us to change and to be made worthy of God’s grace once again. I pray that all people will still pursue and seek God’s forgiveness and guidance.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith allows one to search God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan. In connection to the gospel, God will save us and will forgive us. He is truly merciful that He called us to serve Him in our unworthiness. May all Lasallians be a good example to other people by following the steps of St. John Baptist De La Salle who showed that we are equally worthy of God’s Love.

One Life Prayer
Holy Spirit
You love us and offer us the gift of association.
You call us to live with joy

Fill us with your grace so that we will live the values of the gospel
Our inner life will grow.
And that we will be credible witnesses
Together with the entire Lasallian Family
In the midst of our world.
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary
