Matthew 13:1-9

Date posted: July 24, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Matthew 13:1-9
That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat there; and the whole crowd stood on the beach. And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched; and since they had no root they withered away. Other seeds fell upon thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.  He who has ears, let him hear.”

Reflection
In receiving the Jesus’ message what kind of soil are we? We are like pathways if we let destructions take the message of Jesus away from us and so we continue our evil ways. We are like rocky ground if we put no depth on what we hear from Him. We are like thorny trails if we fall on temptation of not believing in the power of His Words. Today’s Gospel calls us to be a good soil. We listen to Jesus and we proclaim His message to our neighbors. Jesus wants us to be a Good News to all.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, lasallians must act to eliminate forms of human suffering that contradict God’s plan of fullness of life. To follow the way of Jesus, St. John Baptist D e La Salle became a good soil to the youth of France during his time. He made Jesus’ Words alive in the heart of the children through human and Christian education. Lasallians now are called to be like our founder who never became tired of fulfilling his mission of evangelizing the people of God.

One Commitment Prayer
Lord Jesus, You love us all and make us your brothers and sisters. You call us to follow you. You invite us to announce the Good News. Lord, grant us the courage to live our commitment. Teach us to go beyond our borders. Teach us to discover you in the lowliest. Teach us to see with the eyes of faith. Teach us to share our mission with all Lasallians throughout the whole world. We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary, Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through the intercession of St. John Baptist de la Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.

Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
