Matthew 13:36-43

Date posted: July 30, 2019

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 13:36-43
Jesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house. His disciples approached him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” He said in reply, “He who sows good seed is the Son of Man, the field is the world, the good seed the children of the Kingdom. The weeds are the children of the Evil One, and the enemy who sows them is the Devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his Kingdom all who cause others to sin and all evildoers. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”

Reflection
The Gospel presents to us the idea that the weeds and the wheat are growing together. However, during harvest they are separated. Yes, we do have our strengths and weaknesses. We are created in the image of God and yet we are also sinners. But the goodness is that, God forgives our sins and celebrates our goodness and victories. Jesus said, “…from now on sin no more.” What do you think Jesus is trying to tell us in this phrase?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP values reverence for life. “Actions must always be life-affirming. The goal of social development interventions is to preserve and bring forth the fullness of life.” Lasallians believe that there is fullness of life when human dignity is protected and respected. Everyone has this divine part since God created us in His image and likeness. How do we respond when we hear that indigenous communities are silenced and erased?

Prayer
One Commitment Prayer
Lord Jesus, You love us all and make us your brothers and sisters. You call us to follow you. You invite us to announce the Good News. Lord, grant us the courage to live our commitment. Teach us to go beyond our borders. Teach us to discover you in the lowliest. Teach us to see with the eyes of faith. Teach us to share our mission with all Lasallians throughout the whole world. We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary, Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through the intercession of St. John Baptist de La Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.

Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
