Matthew 17:1-9

Date posted: March 8, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 17:1-9
And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain apart. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is well that we are here; if you wish, I will make three booths here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” He was still speaking, when lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces, and were filled with awe. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and have no fear.” And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. 9 And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of man is raised from the dead.”

Reflection
The Gospel is all about transfiguration of Jesus and recognizing the presence of God. This transformation is the true
manifestation of Jesus’ divinity as the Son of God. Jesus was transfigured after praying in the mountain. Jesus shined in pure white and acknowledged by God as His Son. This Lenten we are called to abstain and cleanse our life to be worthy followers of Jesus. What is the message of this mystery of transfiguration in your life?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Zeal for service is a whole-hearted giving of oneself to the service of others, in gratuity and generosity, in creativity and fortitude, in compassion and commitment.” In the Gospel, Jesus calls us to be strong and committed in spreading the Good News to others. SJBDLS responded by providing a Christian education to the children. As Lasallians, we should continue this action initiated by our founder, to strengthen the mind, the heart and the soul of everyone to bring them closer to Christ.

Prayer for the Year of Ecumenism, Inter-Religious Dialogue and Indigenous Peoples
Almighty, Ever-living God, the most Merciful and Compassionate,
we thank You for Creation and the life You have given us.
Together, we people of diverse religions,
spiritual expressions and indigenous traditions who invoke You by different names,
humbly pray that You give us the opportunity to encounter each other through Dialogue,
to reach mutual respect and reciprocal acceptance of each other,
and to break down the walls of division that stand
at the center of most misunderstandings and conflicts.
Make us instruments of Your Light, Love and Peace.
Guide us to walk always in Your Path and be a source of hope to everyone
so that we may discover Your Divine Presence in each other.
Show us the way to Harmony and Unity to reach the fullness of human fraternity.
Give us the wisdom to discern the Truth and to freely choose what is right and just
to make this world a better place to live in.
Together, we ask You for the wisdom and the courage
to fulfil Your Will that all may be ONE.
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary
Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through
the intercession of Saint John Baptist de la Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
