Matthew 5: 17-19

Date posted: March 18, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 5: 17-19
‘Do not imagine that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to
complete them. In truth I tell you, till heaven and earth disappear, not one dot, not one little stroke, is to
disappear from the Law until all its purpose is achieved. Therefore, anyone who infringes even one of the
least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be considered the least in the kingdom
of Heaven; but the person who keeps them and teaches them will be considered great in the kingdom of
Heaven.

Reflection
In today’s Gospel, we heard Jesus speaking to the people, trying to enlighten themreason He came on earth
which is to accomplish the Law and not to abolish it. Following Jesus teachings, this enables us to achieve
eternal life with God our Father in heaven. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and with the grace of
God, may we always be faithful in obeying God’s Law in order for us to be great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
How can we best treasure the law of God in our life?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
The LGP states that, “Zeal for service is a whole-hearted giving of oneself to the service of others, in gratuity
and generosity, in creativity and fortitude, in compassion and commitment.” It is stated in the LGP that the
Zeal is the expression of faith in service to human need. May the footsteps of our founder St. John Baptist
De La Salle may serve as our guide in fulfilling God’s Law. As Lasallians, we are challenged to be the spark
in serving the people and preserving the commandments of God.

Oratio Imperata Against COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against COVID-19,
That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted

May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace
To work for the good of all
And to help those in need.
Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, forever and ever. Amen.
