Matthew 9: 27-31

Date posted: December 7, 2018

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Matthew 9: 27-31
When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord." Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, “See that no one knows it.” But when they had departed, they spread the news about Him in all that country.

Reflection
In our gospel today, we are referring to God’s beliefs. We live by faith and not by our sight but the truth is we can be blind to many things in our lives. There are so many problems with life, we have a lot to go through, but God will never forget us. In the present day we can easily give up on our experiences. We think that no one listens to us, nobody loves us. As we have read in the Gospel today, the two blinds believe that it will be healed and that they trust in Jesus and heal it and give it light to see. Hopefully, even if we are in a hurry to show that we are very different from God, that we are in harmony with what we are going through. There is nothing wrong with trusting God, God just wants us to show that we are just a test of this in our lives he has given.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “…communion as a way of accomplishing mission suggests the solidarity and collaboration that come from sharing in one vision, one spirit and one mission.” In relation to the gospel, the light of Christ needs to shine on us so that we have the grace to take the plank out of our own eye. It isn’t hard to imagine that life without the gift of sight would be heartless. We can be also be blind to the blessings that we have in our lives and fail to give thanks to God. And this kind of blindness makes us resentful instead of being joyful and generous.

Prayer
Almighty and awesome God, We repent and turn away from those things in our life which make us blind to our own sin, Blind us to the blessings in our life and Blind us to the goodness of the Creator, our God  Restore us Lord, the joy of our salvation. Please use your spirit to give us compassion and to show us on how to live a triumphant Christian life and give us strength every day and to share your good news. This we pray, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
