Gospel Reading

St. Luke 8:19-21
The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him but were unable to join him because of the crowd. He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside and they wish to see you.” He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”

Reflection
Our Gospel reminds us that Jesus considered other people as part of his family because He acknowledges and accepts people with open arms especially if we do not only hear the work but also put it into action. It reminds me of the Bible verse of James 1:22 “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves.” It challenges us in our present time to act accordingly to His will and to be always mindful of his teachings and works. I hope that we will always be a living witness of His unfailing love in this ever-changing world as we continue to strengthen our faith. To what extent are you going to do / act to nurture your relationship with God?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
According to the LGP book, the spirit of faith invites us always to search for God’s will. Basically, this involves searching for the best way to carry out God’s saving plan” ( Br. Alvaro Rodriguez Echevarria, FSC). We can relate this by our total trust, confidence and on our faith with our God whose loving presence is manifested in many ways / situations. It also reminds us of the Bible verse of Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Our institution is actively involved with different norms of piety and we hope that we continue to make a big impact in the community and will be used for the fulfillment of God’s mission.

Prayer
Lord, we come in your Holy presence and help us to grow more and nurture our relationship with you in the form of observing the norms of piety. Help us to strengthen our faith in You and have a complete surrender in Your loving Providence regardless of the situation. Continue to touch our hearts and minds Lord that we may be always mindful to reach out especially to those who are the last, the lost and the least; that we may see You in these people and uplift your Holy Name. Please grant us Lord the serenity and sincerity to earnestly follow and trust Your will.
We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us.
St. John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
