Laboratory Medicine

The Department of Laboratory Medicine is concerned with tests done on clinical specimens in order to obtain information about the health of a patient as pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.  At DLSUMC, the department combines anatomic and chemical pathology.  It performs routine and special procedures in hematology, serology and immunology, clinical chemistry, microscopy, microbiology, blood transfusion, surgical pathology and cytology.  The laboratory is equipped with modern diagnostic facilities, staffed medical technologist and experienced pathology consultants.

The department has a residency training program governed by the Philippine Society of Pathology.  It has a four (4) year training program. At present, there are five (5) active consultants and three (3) residents.
