Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

The DLSUMC Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, committed to dedicated excellence  and service to patients, consists of an expert team of Medical and Allied Medical professionals (e.g. physiatrist, physical therapists, occupational therapists and prosthetist/orthotist) trained to restore a patient to his/her highest functional potential minimizing disability, handicap and impairment.

To achieve the highest functional potential for the patient, the department offers a total rehabilitation program consisting of comprehensive PT/OT treatment programs to assist the patients’ return to their highest level of functionality by integrating skilled treatment techniques. When there is a need for braces to support a body part, the prosthetist/orthotist is called in.

The Rehabilitation Team of the department closely collaborates to restore the highest potential for the patient under the supervision of the physiatrist (rehabilitation medicine physician).  Moreover, the department offers a diagnostic service called the electrodiagnosis (electromyography-nerve conduction velocity EMG-NCV) as performed by the physiatrist.

It is the first hospital in Cavite that offers EMG-NCV.  It is accredited with the Commission for Higher Education for its Physical Therapy training program.  Presently, it has four (4) active consultants in its roster of doctors.
