Surgery

Founded in 1988, the Department of Surgery of the DLSUMC has been providing comprehensive, compassionate and high-quality care to patients. It includes eleven divisions: trauma, pediatric, thoracic and cardiovascular, oncology, neurosurgery, colorectal, urology, plastic and reconstructive, head and neck, hepatobiliary and pancreatic, and minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery.

Equipped with advanced surgical technology, it takes pride in improving cancer diagnosis through its Breast Care Clinic.  It performs vacuum-assisted breast biopsy, ultrasound-guided core-needle biopsy, and fine-needle aspiration biopsy and drainage procedure.

The Department of Surgery is committed to uplifting the welfare of its patients in need by regularly conducting in-house missions including thyroid missions, anal missions, breast cancer missions, and hernia missions.  It continuously strives to produce competent surgeons through a fully accredited five (5) year training program governed with the Philippine Society of General Surgeons, Inc. Over the years, it has produced surgeons who have excelled in their fields, be it here and abroad.

The department has twenty-three (23) active consultants and twelve (12) residents.
