De La Salle University Medical Center (DLSUMC) has notched another state-of-the-art facility with the acquisition of its new flexible video endoscopy system in April 2018. It is capable of doing video stroboscopic evaluation for evaluation of voice disorders (a first in the Southern Tagalog region), nasopharyngoscopy for sinusitis and tumor screening, laryngoscopy for evaluation of voice and vocal cord function, fiber-optic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing for swallowing-impaired patients, and head and neck cancer screening via flexible endoscopy of the upper aerodigestive tract.

As part of the introduction of the new machine, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, offered a free head and neck cancer screening. This shall be done, if an individual has head and neck masses and/or experiences symptoms such as weight loss, nasal bleeding, swallowing difficulties, changes in the skin, prolonged hoarseness, recurring pain, sudden loss of voice, difficulty in breathing, and other related symptoms.

Aside from head and neck screening, the Department offers other services, such as: diagnosis and treatment of ear infection, dizziness, and hearing loss; ventilation tube insertion for otitis media with effusion; septoplasty; rhinoplasty; and sinus, tonsil, and adenoid surgery among others.
