The Hospital Year-End Planning Evaluation was held last May 12-13, 2017 at the Bayleaf Hotel Cavite and attended by 108 Unit Heads, Administrators, Directors, Committee Chairs, Clinical Department Chairs, Training Officers from the Hospital, Finance and Administration, Lasallian Formation and Social Action and Dean of the College of Medicine. Dr. Jose Acuin facilitated the two-day planning event and collaboratively worked with Sr. Francesca A. San Diego SPC, Vice Chancellor for Hospital Operations, Hospital Directors and other team members.

The focus of the Hospital Year-End Planning was the evaluation of the plans and accomplishments for School Year 2016-2017 by various units and departments of the De La Salle University Medical Center. Evaluation is the final stage in the planning cycle. This is where significant accomplishments and areas for improvement are assessed especially when the course of actions to achieve our set goals were not attained. For underachieved goals, we need to redefine the existing strategies, tactics and operational controls that we used in the previous year in order to be more effective and efficient in our respective areas of duty.

The aims of the said event were to determine the status of implemented plans for SY 2016-2017; recognize the accomplishments and make necessary actions to address the unmet targets; and, collaboratively refine the Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures (OGSM) Plan for SY 2017-2018 taking into consideration the blueprint of the 10-year Campus Development Plan.

One of the highlights of the year-end planning was the presentation of the proposed DLSUMC Vision crafted by the Hospital Operations Committee Members as per advice and leadership of Sr. Francesca San Diego SPC. The proposed vision “To be a premier Lasallian Medical Center providing compassionate, competent and collaborative healthcare services to ALL” was presented by Sr. Francesca A. San Diego SPC last May 12, 2017. This was to solicit comments and suggestions from the doctors and managers, and recommend for the approval of the Executive Committee. Furthermore, the team enthusiastically discussed and explored the Hospital 10-Year Campus Development Plan with the concerned stakeholders.

De La Salle Health Sciences Institute President Br. Augustine Boquer FSC shared his thoughts and reflections and subsequently advised us not to stop dreaming despite the challenges that we encounter. He witnessed the plenary presentation output of the Hospital Ten-Year Campus Development Plan discussion and others.

Indeed, a planning evaluation is notably needed, because success today is no guarantee of success tomorrow!
