Vision The De La Salle Health Sciences Institute Library strives to be an innovative partner in the achievement of the Institute’s aim to become a world class institution dedicated to the delivery of excellent education, health care, research and community service for the improvement of life in society.
Furthermore, it envisions itself as the foremost resource center in Southern Tagalog in terms of collection, services and facilities in the medical and allied health courses.
Mission The DLSHSI Library is committed to providing quality library and information services to support and enhance the teaching and curricular offerings and programs of the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute in its role as provider of quality and excellent health education. Specifically, the objectives of the Library are the following :
To support the teaching, learning and research functions of the institution by acquiring and organizing a relevant and well balanced collection of resources in a wide variety of formats ;
To respond to changes in teaching and research programs, in consultation with the academic staff
To maintain the physical condition of the collection at an appropriate level
To participate in resource sharing and networking with other libraries
Description
The De La Salle Health Sciences Institute Library is one of the autonomous libraries in the De La Salle Philippines. Like the other De La Salle libraries, it is guided by the gospel values of St. John Baptist de La Salle on the values of Religio, Mores and Cultura. And as a member of the Lasallian Family committed to the foundation of Christian achievers for God and country, the HSI Library supports the objectives of the institute in providing excellent health care, research and community service for the improvement of life and society. Therefore, it endeavors to support the curriculum of the different colleges by providing the best resources, adequate facilities, equipment and personnel to meet the instructional, research and information needs of its users and patrons. The HSI Library also aims to provide a quiet, wholesome, and user-friendly environment to stimulate the inquisitive mind for learning.
Thrusts
“Supporting. Innovating. Collaborating”
The thrusts reflect the mission of the HSI Library, which is broad enough to appeal the faculty, students, staff and even non-DLSHSI personnel (i.e., visiting researchers, librarians and faculty). Supporting is used in the mission statement to signify the HSI Library’s role in the academic life of the faculty and students. Innovating signifies the changing environment of the library (from traditional to electronic) and how librarians respond to those changes positively. Collaborating means the library’s role in the active participation towards resource sharing and networking with other libraries and library organization.
