July 8, 2015 – New Lasallian nurses and topnotchers of the May 2015 Nurse Licensure Examination were fêted by the College of Nursing in a Testimonial and Thanksgiving Lunch for the excellent 98.70% passing rate. During the testimonial, Br. Gus reminded the new nurses to always give their best wherever they go and be proud of who they are as Lasallians and as Filipinos. “What is important is a nurse with a kind heart for the poor who come to us and have nothing. I hope you will always make an effort to have a special place in your heart for this patient and to ultimately take good care of them,” added Br. Gus.
Dr. Juanito O. Cabanias, the new vice chancellor for Academics also encouraged the nurses to focus on their mission. “Don’t forget that you are a Lasallian. You have an important mission in this world. Nurture life.”
Nurse Elmera Toledo, who ranked 7th among all examinees from the Philippines reminisced with her classmates the challenges as well as the fun and laughter they shared during their college years and extolled them to remember what they’ve learned at DLSHSI. “Whatever path we will take never let the value of money outshine the value of caring. Always be grateful that God chose us to be His instrument to heal a person that’s why you are the so-called angels.”
