Senior Brothers aged 60 and above from the Lasallian East Asia District (LEAD) were on campus at De La Salle Health Sciences Institute on February 13 and 15 for a series of activities during the LEAD Senior Brothers’ General Assembly.


Co-hosted by DLSHSI with DLSU-D, this year’s assembly gathered 38 Senior Brothers assigned in various ministries in East Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Japan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. Br. Michael Meister FSC of the District of San Francisco was the resource speaker of the three-day assembly.


At DLSHSI, the Brothers toured the De La Salle University Medical Center, the College of Medicine, and the Residencia De La Salle, a residential facility for retired Senior Brothers and for younger Brothers who are recovering from illnesses and will need medical or therapeutic care. The Residencia is also a home to Brothers who are actively serving Lasallian communities not only in Cavite but in nearby cities as well. DLSHSI and DLSU-D President Br. Gus Boquer FSC, along with Vocations Coordinator Br. Sockie dela Rosaand scholars from the College of Medicine was on hand to welcome the Brothers to the residence which houses facilities such asconference rooms, a gym, lounge, family den, hobby room, chapel, and home care equipment for ailing Brothers. A mass at the Two Hearts of Jesus and Mary Chapel was celebrated before their day ended with a dinner at the Residencia.


On the second day, the Brothers graced the groundbreaking of the retreat center at De La Salle Lipa and visited the PARC Novitiate and the Memorial Cloister where they prayed for the Brothers buried there.


During the last day of their assembly, the Brothers were treated to a special dinner at De La Salle Villarosa Convention Hall which featured performances by the Lasallian Youth Orchestra, Br. Vince Fernandez FSC, and tenor Johann Enriquez, a La Salle alumnus. The event was also attended by aspirants and postulants from the De La Salle Brothers’ community.
